LED Tail Light WOW Kit!

Posted by SCG on May 13th, 2011

I love it! it’s bright! I think Great Lakes freighters might mistake my tail light for one of their port side lights, it’s that awesome!

Delivery was fast, the product was well packed. I couldn’t ask for anything more.

My first test ride this evening was to the American Legion Hall in Northville, Michigan to drop of the info about the KLR you are donating to a worthy vet. My friends there were grateful and enthusiastic. Thank you.

Have a great summer, I’m sure I’ll be getting more stuff soon,

This is a must on the old KLR650s. This very bright light flashes quickly about 4 times before going solid each time you touch the brakes, so there’s no need anymore to pump to make sure the guy with the cell phone notices someone’s braking in front of him. It’s very easy to install. Much, much safer than the stock “birthday candle” bulb.

Ok, so its a bit brighter than the stock incandescent bulb. But truly it should have had 3 times the LEDS to make it extremely bright. The manufacture could have had 10 LEDS running in running mode, and then when the brakes are applied some dormant LEDS and the running LEDs could have come into play. My ZX14 LED rear tail (OEM) is 10 times the brightness on the brakes. I feel it needs more LEDS on the circuit board.

Oh well, looks like my plan to add a CMSL 10″ array above the tail lamp is a good choice. Rally-lights.com has a nice Hella one that’s waterproof and fits the HT’s top rack well. Also, I think I am adding the lighting kit from Admore Lighting to my cases as extra safety.

Add more and brighter LED’s to the “wow” (lower case on purpose).

    UPDATE:

Ok, so I have to say the wow is quite a bit brighter than stock, I was just desiring tons more of light. With the engine running the LED output is a bit brighter, although there is a flicker of the LED’s at idle (I have and 09 with new AGM battery). So….is it worth the cost, I say I’m on the fence, but it never is a bad thing to have more and extra light seen from the rear of your bike.

Honest opinion guys and gals. The KLR does need as much rear lighting as possible and the WOW helps out nicely.
